Royal Caribbean's Club Royale awards instant cruise certificates: Royal's own monthly flyers call them Instant Rewards Certificates, when you cross a point threshold during a sailing. A letter arrives at your stateroom offering a discounted or free future cruise. The thresholds are the same whether you're on a 3-night or a 7-night, so the real question is: how much play does each rung take, and what does it cost you? This calculator answers both for your specific sailing.

What edge should I use?
Cruise lines don't publish slot odds. Cruisers commonly assume 15–20% house edge (80–85% RTP); the machine meters we've been able to read measured 83–91%; the same game came in 6.8 points apart on two ships. How to read the table
- Coin-in is total money cycled through the machine (wins replayed count), that's what earns points, at 1 point per $5 on slots or $15 on video poker.
- Expected cost is coin-in × the house edge: the theoretical loss of generating that play. A "free" cruise whose expected cost exceeds what the cruise would cost to book is a purchase, not a prize.
- Fits? compares the hours a rung needs against the casino time in your sailing (nights × hours per night). A ✗ means you'd have to play more than you planned to reach it.

How many points do I need for a free Royal Caribbean cruise?
The certificate ladder starts lower than most people expect: around 400 points earns a dollars-off certificate. A free interior cabin typically appears around 1,200 points, with wider sailing lists and better cabins as you climb. The calculator above shows the coin-in and the expected cost for every rung, so you can see which ones your natural play already reaches.
Are Club Royale certificates for one person or two?
The certificate covers the first two guests' cruise fare, at double occupancy. Taxes, fees and gratuities are still owed for everyone on the booking. Kids Sail Free can sometimes stack on qualifying sailings, but it has blackout dates and the kids' taxes and fees still apply. Sailing solo does not halve the cost; you are still paying the double-occupancy fare structure.
Can two people combine Club Royale certificates?
Per Royal Caribbean's terms, in effect since October 2024: qualified recipients in the same household from the same promotional event may combine offers on the same sail date for one category upgrade, not to exceed a Junior Suite. They may redeem for separate cruises, but may not redeem for two staterooms on the same sailing.
Which sailings are blacked out for Club Royale certificates?
Certificates cannot be redeemed on certain holiday sailings: President's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. The dollars-off or trade-in value can still be applied as a credit toward those sailings, subject to availability.
What house edge or payback should I assume for cruise slots?
Royal Caribbean publishes no slot RTP. The machine meters we have been able to read measured roughly 83% to 91% depending on the machine, and the same game title can be configured differently from ship to ship. This calculator defaults to a conservative 80% RTP so the expected cost is not understated.
