The Club Royale Certificate Ladder

Last reviewed: October 2026

Club Royale publishes a ladder of 13 instant certificate offer codes. The bottom rung is roughly $100 off a sailing at about 400 points. The top is a VIP offer at 40,000 points. Eligible sailings change every month through an official flyer, which is the actual source of truth.

This is the most transparent thing in cruise casino gaming. Celebrity publishes a ladder too. Carnival publishes nothing. Royal Caribbean is the only line that lays out the full instant-certificate progression, so it is the one program where you can do the arithmetic in advance.

What “instant” means here

You earn the points during a sailing, and the certificate is issued onboard while you are still on the ship rather than arriving in a mailer weeks later. That is the distinction from a standard casino mailer offer. It also means the point threshold is per sailing, not annual, which is a different counter from the tier ladder.

Converting the rungs to coin-in

Club Royale slots earn one point per $5 of coin-in. Video poker earns one per $15. So every rung has a dollar price tag.

PointsSlot coin-in at $5/ptVideo poker coin-in at $15/pt
400$2,000$6,000
1,000$5,000$15,000
2,500$12,500$37,500
10,000$50,000$150,000
40,000$200,000$600,000

Read the bottom rung carefully. About $100 off a cruise for $2,000 of slot coin-in is a rebate of roughly five percent of wagering, and the expected cost of putting $2,000 through a shipboard slot machine is more than $100. That is true at every rung. Certificates soften a loss, they do not create a profit. Free cruise certificates explained works through that arithmetic in general terms.

The monthly flyer is the real document

The ladder tells you which offer code you qualify for. The flyer tells you which sailings that code can actually be used on, and it changes monthly. A certificate you cannot apply to a sailing you want is worth what the sailing you do not want is worth, which is often zero.

Practical consequences:

  • Check the current flyer before assuming a certificate covers your target itinerary.
  • Certificates carry expiry and booking windows. Ask onboard, in writing if possible.
  • Restricted ships, restricted seasons, and blackout weeks are normal, not a glitch.

Our Club Royale ships page tracks which vessels appear in eligibility lists, and the certificate calculator maps a point total to its rung.

What is not published

Three gaps worth naming honestly. First, taxes, port fees and gratuities are typically not covered by a comped-cabin certificate, so a “free” cruise still has out-of-pocket cost. Second, the point-to-FreePlay conversion rate is not published. Third, the exact dollar value assigned to mid-ladder rungs varies with sailing and cabin category, so treating any published rung as a fixed dollar amount overstates its reliability.

How to use the ladder without letting it use you

The correct use is backward. Decide what you were going to wager for entertainment, convert it to points at $5 per point, and see which rung falls out. That is a rebate on play you had already chosen.

The expensive use is forward: seeing 400 points is only $2,000 of coin-in and topping up to reach it. Every incremental dollar of that top-up carries the full house edge, and the certificate does not change it.
