The Club Royale Tier Ladder and What It Costs
Last reviewed: October 2026
Club Royale has four tiers. Choice starts at 0 points, Prime at 2,500, Signature at 25,000 and Masters at 100,000. Because a Club Royale slot point costs $5 of coin-in, those thresholds translate to $12,500, $125,000 and $500,000 of slot wagering inside a single April to March year.
Writing the tiers in dollars is the whole point of this article. Point thresholds sound climbable. Coin-in figures tell you what you are actually being asked to do.
The four tiers converted to dollars
| Tier | Points | Slot coin-in at $5/pt | Video poker coin-in at $15/pt |
|---|---|---|---|
| Choice | 0 | none | none |
| Prime | 2,500 | $12,500 | $37,500 |
| Signature | 25,000 | $125,000 | $375,000 |
| Masters | 100,000 | $500,000 | $1,500,000 |
Prime is reachable on a single sailing for a regular slot player. Signature is a serious annual commitment. Masters is a professional-scale volume of play, and the video poker column for Masters is one and a half million dollars of coin-in in twelve months.
Everything resets April 1
The Club Royale tier year runs April 1 through March 31, and points reset with the cruise year. There is no rolling window and no carryover of the point balance itself. A December sailing and a February sailing land in the same year. A March sailing and an April sailing do not.
That calendar shapes a genuine decision. If you are at 22,000 points in February, the marginal cost of the last 3,000 points to Signature is $15,000 of slot coin-in, and if you skip it the counter goes to zero on April 1. See the cost of chasing casino status for why that last push is usually the worst-value play of the year. Our tier calculator uses the same April to March boundary.
Tiers and certificates are separate ladders
This trips people up. Club Royale’s tier status and its instant certificate offers are two different systems reading the same point balance. The certificate ladder starts at about 400 points, well below Prime, and runs up to a VIP offer at 40,000 points, which sits between Signature and Masters. You do not need a tier to get a certificate offer, and reaching Masters is not what the certificates key off.
If your goal is a discounted or comped sailing rather than a status card, the certificate ladder is the number to watch. Our certificate calculator maps points to rungs.
What the tiers actually get you
Royal Caribbean lists tier benefits publicly, and they are real: recognition, drinks on the casino floor while playing, and higher-touch service at the upper levels including access to a host. What Royal Caribbean does not publish is a formula converting tier level into a guaranteed offer value, or a FreePlay rate for point redemption. We flag both as unpublished rather than estimating them.
The math nobody at the casino will say out loud
Signature at $125,000 of slot coin-in is not a $125,000 loss. But it is not free either. Apply any realistic shipboard slot hold to that volume and the expected cost dwarfs the value of the benefits attached to the tier. That is the arithmetic behind losing less beats comps: the cheapest way to improve your net result is to wager less, not to earn a better card.
Play the amount you were going to play anyway, then take whatever tier that produces. Climbing on purpose is where the money goes.
