What state law says
South Carolina’s gambling law — S.C. Code Ann. § 16-19-40 — broadly prohibits “any game with cards or dice” and “any other gaming table of like kind.” South Carolina has no state lottery (one of only a handful of states without one), no commercial casinos, no tribal casinos, and has not legalized sports betting. The state’s Supreme Court has historically ruled broadly against gaming devices.
