Celebrity runs two balances off the same play, and they behave differently. Reward Points buy FreePlay and Instant Cruise Rewards on the sailing that earned them, and expire when it ends. Tier Credits accumulate across the tier year (August 1 – July 31) and set your status. This calculator projects the second one: what a year of your cruising adds up to, which of the six tiers that reaches, and the theoretical loss behind it.

The 2¢ default is secondary: one source reports 50 points = $1 with a $5 minimum, and Celebrity's terms say only that point values are subject to change. Welcome FreePlay defaults to $0 because Celebrity publishes none and nobody has reported one to us — not because it is certainly zero. If you were given one, type it in.

The six tiers
The thresholds and the August 1 – July 31 tier year are Celebrity's published figures. The benefits are drawn from its own fine print, read August 2026:
- Pearl — any earned points: Entry tier — Instant Cruise Rewards from your first sailing's play.
- Onyx — 500 points: Free drinks in the casino while you play.
- Amethyst — 5,000 points: The convenience fee comes off.
- Sapphire — 15,000 points: Annual Cruise Benefit with wider stateroom choice.
- Sapphire Plus — 75,000 points: Onboard credit scaled by sailing length.
- Ruby — 150,000 points: The top tier — largest onboard credit.
What Celebrity does not publish about its own tiers
This is worth stating plainly, because most write-ups of Blue Chip paper over it. Celebrity names its perks without ever laying out a tier-by-tier grid, so some of what you will read elsewhere is inference presented as fact. Three gaps in particular:
- The Annual Cruise Benefit's exact tier floor. The benefit is real and documented — one cruise a year at double occupancy, taxes and fees only, on select sailings. Which tier first earns it is not stated outright. Celebrity's fine print names Sapphire, Sapphire Plus and Ruby as getting added flexibility on stateroom categories, which is the clearest published signal, and it is what this calculator shows. It is a signal, not a published rule.
- The FreePlay conversion rate. Not published at all. One source reports 50 points to the dollar with a $5 minimum, which is the calculator's default and is labelled secondary throughout. Celebrity's terms say only that point values are subject to change.
- Whether a Club Royale tier match exists in practice. Celebrity's terms reserve the right to honour "any Blue Chip tier match program", but across three years of forum reports we found nobody who actually received one in either direction. Treat Blue Chip and Club Royale as separate clocks.
What the tier year does and does not carry
Reward Points expire at the end of each sailing if you do not redeem them, so there is no banking them toward a bigger certificate on a later cruise. Tier Credits are what survive the sailing, and they run on Celebrity's own calendar rather than yours: the year resets every August 1. Two cruises in the same calendar year can land in different tier years, which is the single most common way people end up short of a threshold they thought they had cleared.
