Gaming Tracker — How to Use It

The Gaming Tracker is a free, private tool for keeping a record of your casino play — what you bought in for, what you cashed out, and how you're doing over time. It's organized into four tabs: Dashboard (your overall results), Add Session (log a new visit), History (every session, plus export and import), and Charts & Data (graphs and tables of your trends).

Adding a session

Open the Add Session tab and fill in the visit. Only a few fields are required; the rest are optional.

Date — defaults to today; change it for past sessions.
Casino / Establishment — where you played (e.g. Bellagio, an online site, a cruise casino). Names you've used before are remembered and suggested as you type.
Game — Blackjack, Roulette, Slots, etc. You can pick a suggestion or type your own; custom games are remembered for next time.
Amount In — the total you bought in / put at risk.
Amount Out — the total you walked away with.

Your Net Result is calculated automatically as Amount Out minus Amount In and shown live as you type — a green gain or an amber loss.

Optional fields let you capture more detail:

Duration — how long you played, in minutes.
Notes — anything you want to remember about the session.
Optional details — expand this for Venue Type (land-based, online, social, cruise) and Location (city/region).
Photos — up to 5 per session, from your camera or files (see below).

Tap Save Session and you'll land on History with your new entry at the top.

Reading the dashboard

The Dashboard summarizes everything you've logged:

Total sessions and all-time Net P&L (your running win/loss).
Best and Worst session (shown once you have at least two).
Sessions by game — how many sessions and the net result for each game.
Recent photos — tap any thumbnail to open that session: a large view of the photo, the full session details, and a Share button.

History: editing, filtering, and sorting

The History tab lists every session. Tap a session to expand it and see the full buy-in/cash-out, duration, notes, location, and photos, plus Edit and Delete buttons. Deleting is permanent.

Sort by date, net result, establishment, or game.
Filters — narrow by date range, venue type, result (winning / losing / break-even), or specific games.

Charts & Data

The Charts & Data tab turns your sessions into graphs, each with a table of the underlying numbers beneath it:

Cumulative P&L over time — your running net result, session by session.
Net by game — which games are up or down for you overall.
Net by casino / establishment — where you do best and worst.
Activity by month — how much you wagered and how many sessions, each month.

Use the Filters at the top (date range, venue, game) to narrow every chart at once — for example, to see just this year, or just one casino. More chart types and custom breakdowns are planned for a future update.

Photos

You can attach up to five photos to a session — chip stacks, payout slips, the table, whatever you want to remember. Photos are automatically resized and have their location (GPS) data stripped before they're saved, so you're not storing more than you need to.

Backing up your history

Because your data is stored only in this browser, a backup is the only way to protect it. The Dashboard has a "Back up your data" card right at the top — that's the easiest place to do it, and it shows when you last backed up. (The same buttons are also on the History tab.)

Download backup (.zip) — this is the complete backup you use to restore later. It contains all your session records and your photos in one file the tracker can read back in. Download a fresh one regularly and keep it somewhere safe (cloud drive, email to yourself, etc.).
JSON only (no photos) — a smaller backup of just the records, for when you don't need the images.
CSV (History tab) — a spreadsheet-friendly file for Excel or Google Sheets. Good for your own analysis, but it is not used for importing back into the tracker.
TXT (History tab) — a plain-text summary that's easy to read or print.

To back up:

On the Dashboard, find the "Back up your data" card.
Tap Download backup (.zip).
Save the downloaded file (named gaming-tracker-backup-YYYY-MM-DD.zip) somewhere you won't lose it.

Make a habit of doing this every so often — and always before clearing your browser, switching browsers, or setting up a new device.

Restoring or importing a backup

If you've lost your data, switched devices, or just want to move your history to another browser, you restore it from a backup file.

To import / restore:

Open the Gaming Tracker (Dashboard or History tab).
Tap Import backup.
Choose your gaming-tracker-backup-*.zip file (an older .json backup works too).
Your sessions — and, from a .zip, your photos — are added back in. You'll see a confirmation of how many were imported.

Trying it with sample data

Not sure what the tracker looks like with real data in it? Before you've logged anything, tap View sample data on the Dashboard (or an empty History / Charts tab) to load a set of example sessions. It's loaded only in memory — nothing is saved — and a banner stays at the top until you tap Exit sample data. Explore every tab, then exit and start logging your own.

Clearing all data

At the bottom of the Dashboard, a Danger zone holds Clear all data, which permanently erases every session and photo and resets the tracker to a clean slate (your saved casino/game suggestions and preferences too). Because it can't be undone, you have to type DELETE to confirm. Download a backup first if there's any chance you'll want the data later.

From the Dashboard, Share activity lets you post to X, Facebook, or Reddit, or copy the text to share anywhere. You choose whether to include your net total or just mention that you track your play. Every share includes a link back to the Gaming Tracker so friends can try it too. On phones, this uses your device's normal share sheet.

Installing it & using it offline

The Gaming Tracker can be installed like an app and works fully offline — handy on a casino floor with no signal. When your browser offers it, tap Install app. On iPhone/iPad, tap the Share icon in Safari, then Add to Home Screen. Once installed, it opens from your home screen in its own window.

After your first visit, the app keeps working with no connection — you can add sessions, attach photos, and view your history offline, and everything saves to your device as usual. A small "Offline" note appears when you have no connection so you know nothing is being sent anywhere. When a new version is available, an Update now bar appears; tap it whenever convenient.

Troubleshooting

"This tool requires browser storage…" — you're likely in a private/incognito window, which blocks the storage the tracker needs. Open it in a normal browser tab.
"Your browser storage is full." — download a backup, then delete older sessions or some photos to free space.
My data disappeared. — clearing browser data, "clear site data," or some privacy cleaners will erase it. Restore from your most recent .zip (or .json) backup. This is exactly why regular backups matter.
Import says it couldn't read the file. — make sure you're choosing a .zip or .json backup file (not the CSV or TXT export). Imports are all-or-nothing, so no data is changed if an import fails.
