A Slot Machine With Nothing Hidden: See the Real Odds

Every real slot machine is a sealed box. You can see what the symbols pay, but never how often they land — the reel weights and the true odds are proprietary and undisclosed. So we built the opposite: an illustrative slot where every number is on the table. The full paytable, the exact RTP, the hit rate, the volatility — all published, all verified, before you ever press spin. It won’t make you money (no slot does), but it will show you exactly why.

This is a teaching model, not a simulation of any real machine’s odds. That’s the point: a real machine can’t show you this, so we made one that can.

What “nothing hidden” actually means

On a casino slot you get the paytable (symbol → payout) but not the probabilities. Ours publishes both, because the whole machine is just one honest mechanism:

The draw is open. Each spin pulls one whole number from 1 to 1,000,000, uniformly. No weighting you can’t see.
The paytable is open. Contiguous ranges of those numbers map to a payout multiplier — ×0 (no win), ×1 (stake back), or higher. You can read every range and exactly how wide it is.
The odds are exact, not estimated. Because the ranges are just integers over 1,000,000, the RTP is an exact ratio (96% = 960,000 / 1,000,000), and a build-time test re-checks every machine on every deploy. The figures you see are computed straight from the ranges — independently reviewed, not marketing.

The thing you can’t do at any casino

Three things our slots tool lets you see that a real machine never will:

Watch your exact number land. Every spin shows the drawn number, which named band it fell in, and the payout — so you see, viscerally, how much of the number line just loses.
Open any machine’s full odds. Nine machines from a 75% legal-minimum grinder to a 99% “loose” one, each with its entire outcome distribution laid out: chance, payout, and how much of the return each band carries.
Run the same RTP three different ways. This is the lesson the casino never advertises.

Same 96%, three different nights

Three of our machines pay back exactly 96% over the long run. In the Simulate tab’s face-off, they run on an identical bankroll, stake, and seed — and the results aren’t close:

Steady (low volatility): frequent small wins; most players survive a long while, and a meaningful share finish ahead.
Generous (high volatility): long dry spells broken by the occasional big spike.
Wild (extreme volatility): almost the entire 96% is locked inside a jackpot that hits roughly 1 in 8,333 spins. The vast majority of sessions bust; one lucky player walks away with thousands.

Identical house edge. Completely different experience. That gap between the advertised RTP and what actually happens to your bankroll is the whole game — and it’s why “this machine pays 96%” tells you almost nothing. (The why behind these two numbers is in Slot RTP & Volatility.)

It’s still a loss — that’s the honest part

Radical transparency cuts both ways. Open the odds on the 99% machine — the loosest one that exists in spirit — and you’ll still find a house edge on every single spin. There is no setting, no machine, no system at which a slot becomes a break-even bet. The house-edge model shows how even a 1% edge grinds a bankroll to zero given enough spins, and a slot’s whole design is built to maximize those spins.

Seeing the entire machine doesn’t beat it. It just means you can never again be fooled about what it’s doing.
