Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Before a Fort Lauderdale Cruise
If you are sailing from Port Everglades and enjoy casinos, Hard Rock Hollywood is an easy way to make the night before your cruise feel like part of the trip.

The short version
- Best for: adults who want a fun casino-resort night before or after a Port Everglades cruise.
- From FLL: we have made the drive in about 10 minutes. Hard Rock says to expect about 15 minutes in light traffic and up to 50 in heavy traffic.
- To Port Everglades: usually about 15–20 minutes for us, plus time for port security and terminal traffic.
- To PortMiami: doable, but allow roughly an hour and leave extra room for traffic.
- Without a car: easy enough. Once you arrive, you can eat, swim, see a show and gamble without leaving the resort.
- Where to sleep: The Guitar Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and Oasis Tower are different buildings within the same connected resort. Dolce by Wyndham across the road is often cheaper.
- The catch: it will usually cost more than a straightforward airport or cruise-port hotel.
Why the location works for Port Everglades
The resort is at 1 Seminole Way in Hollywood, west of FLL and Port Everglades. You are not beside the cruise terminal, but you are still in the same part of Broward County. That makes the location much more sensible for a Fort Lauderdale sailing than it may look at first glance.

South Florida traffic is the wildcard. On cruise morning, work backward from your arrival window and leave room for a late driver, port security and luggage drop-off. We would not cut this ride close just because the map says the port is nearby.
Why we like it for the night before a cruise
After you check in, the planning is basically over. The casino, pools, shops, entertainment and restaurants are all together, with choices ranging from quick food and a 24-hour diner to steakhouses and Japanese or Korean dining. That is especially nice after a flight when nobody wants to get back in a car.
There are three places to book inside the resort. The Guitar Hotel and the original Hard Rock Hotel are separate towers, and Oasis Tower is the third option. The casino floor, shops, restaurants and pool area connect the property in the middle. Compare all three for the same dates; the cheapest tower changes.
A couple can have dinner and watch the Guitar Hotel light show. A larger group can split up between the pool, restaurants and casino, then meet again without coordinating another ride.
One stop we definitely recommend is Aubi & Ramsa's liquor-infused ice cream. The Highland Truffle is my favorite. My wife prefers the strawberry-and-champagne option, listed on the menu as the Strawberry French Mimosa. It is a small thing, but it is exactly the kind of treat that makes an evening here feel more like the start of the vacation.
A cheaper room across the road: Dolce by Wyndham
Dolce by Wyndham Hollywood is directly across State Road 7 from Hard Rock's Lucky Street Garage. When we have compared prices, it has often been cheaper than the three on-site hotels. Check the final total for your dates, since that will not be true every night.
Dolce is a separate, non-casino hotel. It is non-smoking and has a rooftop pool, fitness center and kosher dining; its current site also lists paid valet parking. It makes sense if you want to visit Hard Rock without paying to sleep inside the resort. The tradeoff is the road crossing, especially in the heat, rain or late at night. Ask Dolce about its current shuttle arrangements before counting on one.
The casino is large enough to be the evening's activity
Hard Rock currently lists about 2,500 slots, nearly 200 table games and a 45-table poker room. This is not a hotel with a token gaming area. The casino can easily fill the evening, and a group will have enough variety to split up without leaving the property.
If you are cruising with friends and plan a shared slot session, use the free Group Slot Pull Organizer and instructional guide before everyone reaches the casino. It keeps the rules, contributions, play order and final split in one place, which is much easier than trying to reconstruct everything after the pull.
For cheaper table games, check Seminole Classic next door
If table minimums matter more than the resort atmosphere, Seminole Classic Casino is where we would look first. It sits just south of the Hard Rock complex and feels much more like a locals casino. During our September 2026 visits, we regularly saw $10 craps, with the game occasionally at $5 during slow periods, plus $10–$15 blackjack. Those are the limits we saw, not a promise of what will be open when you arrive.

Hard Rock does advertise $5 blackjack from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but the fine print matters. Every time we have seen it, the offer has been limited to one eight-seat 6:5 table for the entire floor. Players often take more than one betting spot, so the table may serve fewer than eight people. The 6:5 payout is also materially worse than standard 3:2 blackjack. We would treat this as a small promotional table, not as proof that Hard Rock has widely available $5 blackjack. And do not let a $5 sign on a carnival game such as Mississippi Stud fool you: a complete hand can require several wagers, making the real cost much higher.
We have seen more dealer mistakes at the Classic than at the main Hard Rock floor. It is locally known as a place where some Seminole dealers gain experience, although we could not find a published training policy. Pay attention to every hand and payout. If something looks wrong, stop and ask the dealer or floor supervisor to check it.
We have walked between the two casinos in about 10–15 minutes. That sounds easy until the Florida heat or a sudden storm shows up, so there are times when a short rideshare is worth it. The Classic is also noticeably smokier. There is a smoke-free gaming area, but smoke-sensitive guests will probably be happier at the main resort.
If you only play slots, we would stay at the Guitar complex. The denominations were similar when we visited, while Hard Rock had far more games and a better non-smoking selection. The Classic makes the strongest case for itself when you want a lower-limit blackjack or craps table.
Use Unity before you book, not after checkout
If you use Unity by Hard Rock, add your number to the room before the stay. Eligible hotel charges, on-property spending and casino play may all matter, and Hard Rock also publishes member room rates.
Where you book matters. Many third-party and package reservations do not qualify as eligible hotel stays. Compare the direct price, including the resort fee, with the true total elsewhere. We would not pay a large premium just to earn points, but it is frustrating to miss credit when the direct price is the same.
Our September 2026 test also found that Hard Rock Bet reward points move to and from Unity at 1:1 in the app. That is useful if you already have points online. It is not a reason to bet more before the trip.
A practical pre-cruise plan
- Fly into FLL if it works for your trip. It is the closest major airport.
- Compare all four room options. Check the three resort towers and Dolce, then compare final prices and cancellation terms.
- Add your Unity number before arrival. It is easier to attach it to the reservation early than chase missing credit later.
- Stay put for the evening. Have dinner, see the light show and enjoy the resort instead of adding another drive.
- Separate the casino budget. Do not touch the money set aside for the cruise, tips or the ride to port.
- Confirm the ship's terminal that morning. Then leave enough time for traffic, security and luggage drop-off.
What could make another hotel better
- You only need a bed and a shuttle. A basic airport or port hotel will probably cost less.
- You want the beach or Las Olas. Hard Rock is a self-contained resort, not a walkable Fort Lauderdale neighborhood.
- A casino before the cruise is bad for your budget. The main attraction becomes a drawback if it encourages unplanned play.
- You sail early from Miami. The drive is manageable, but staying closer to PortMiami removes a major traffic variable.
- There is a concert or big event. Room prices, traffic and restaurant waits can all jump. Check the calendar first.
