The Three Point Molly: Craps Strategy or Just Good Housekeeping?

Last reviewed: October 2026

The Three Point Molly is the most recommended structured approach in craps: a pass line bet, up to two come bets, and full free odds behind all three. It does not reduce the house edge by a single basis point. What it does is guarantee that every dollar you have on the table is on the cheapest real estate craps offers.

The procedure

  1. Bet the pass line before the come-out roll.
  2. When a point is established, take maximum odds behind the pass line.
  3. Place a come bet. When it travels to a number, back it with odds too.
  4. Place a second come bet and back it the same way.
  5. Once three numbers are working, stop. When one wins, replace it with a new come bet.

The result: three numbers working for you at all times, each consisting of a low-edge flat bet plus a zero-edge odds bet.

What it costs

The flat pass and come bets each carry a 1.41% house edge. The odds bets behind them are paid at true odds: 0% edge, the only such bet in the casino. Blend a $10 flat bet with 3-4-5x odds and the combined edge on each of your three positions drops below 0.4% per dollar on the table.

That is the entire pitch. The Molly is not a system that creates an edge; it is a discipline that stops you from wandering into the middle of the table, where the trap bets charge 9% to 17%.

What it does not do

  • It does not “catch hot rolls” in any mathematical sense. A hot roll pays it handsomely, but the expectation of every bet was fixed the moment it hit the felt.
  • It does not protect you during cold streaks. Three working numbers means three bets that all lose when the seven shows early. The Molly loses faster than a lone pass line bet in a choppy game; that is the price of having more action working.
  • It does not manage your bankroll for you. Full odds behind three numbers is a lot of exposure. At $10 flat with 3-4-5x odds, you can easily have $130 or more working at once.

Who it suits

The Molly is ideal for a player who wants continuous action, hates dead rolls, and is committed to never touching the high-edge props. If that is you, size the flat bets so the full three-number exposure fits your session bankroll, and rehearse the rhythm on the free table until placing odds behind a traveled come bet is automatic.
