What state law says
Alaska gambling law is codified at Alaska Statute § 11.66.200 et seq., which defines gambling as risking something of value on a game of chance. Alaska has no commercial casinos and no licensed online gambling market. The state permits charitable gaming, pull-tabs, and certain nonprofit contests.
Alaska has no sweepstakes-specific statute comparable to Florida’s § 849.094. However, the state also has no agency with a clear mandate to regulate or enforce against online sweepstakes platforms, and no gaming commission has issued guidance on the dual-currency model.
The sweepstakes operators’ no-purchase-necessary defense has not been tested in Alaska courts.
Recent developments
No legislation specifically targeting dual-currency sweepstakes casinos has been introduced in the Alaska Legislature as of June 2026. No enforcement actions have been filed by the Alaska Attorney General’s office against any sweepstakes platform.
